How to replace the 2022–2025 Ford F-150 Lightning key fob battery
- Press the release button and pull out the metal key blade
- Behind where the blade sat, twist a thin coin under the hidden tab to lift off the battery cover
- Ease the old cell out with a small screwdriver, keeping clear of the circuit board
- Fit the new CR2450 with the + side facing up
- Clip the cover back on, slide the key blade in and test the buttons
Confirmed in the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 F-150 Lightning owner's manuals, which list one remote control type (CR2450). Replacing the cell does not erase the key's programming.
After you change the battery
- Press lock and unlock from a few metres away. The car should react on the first press.
- On push-button start cars, start the engine once with the fob in your pocket.

About the CR2450 battery
CR2450 is a 24.5 mm × 5 mm, 3 V lithium cell with a typical capacity of about 620 mAh. The same size is sold as DL2450, ECR2450, 5029LC. A CR2430 has the same diameter but is thinner, so it can fit loosely and runs down sooner. Stick with CR2450.
