- Get a new CR2032 or CR2450 cell from a fresh pack.
- Work over a table or soft cloth so small parts and buttons don’t get lost.
- Note which way the old battery faces before you take it out.

How to replace the 2024–2026 Ford Ranger key fob battery (flip key, Flip key (turn-key start))
- Press the button to fold out the key blade
- Use a small screwdriver to press the clip and release the battery cover, then lift the cover off
- Lever the old cell out gently, keeping clear of the circuit board
- Fit the new CR2032 with the + side facing up
- Clip the cover back on and test the buttons
How to replace the 2024–2026 Ford Ranger key fob battery (smart key, Push-button start)
- Press the release button and pull out the metal key blade
- Behind where the blade sat, twist a thin coin under the hidden tab to lift off the battery cover
- Ease the old cell out with a small screwdriver, keeping clear of the circuit board
- Fit the new CR2450 with the + side facing up
- Clip the cover back on, slide the key blade in and test the buttons
Confirmed in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Ranger owner's manuals (CR2450 for push-button start keys). 2019-2023 online manuals have no key battery section, so not included.
After you change the battery
- Press lock and unlock from a few metres away. The car should react on the first press.
- On push-button start cars, start the engine once with the fob in your pocket.

About the CR2032 battery
CR2032 is a 20 mm × 3.2 mm, 3 V lithium cell with a typical capacity of about 225 mAh. The same size is sold as DL2032, ECR2032, KCR2032, 5004LC. A CR2012 or CR2016 or CR2025 has the same diameter but is thinner, so it can fit loosely and runs down sooner. Stick with CR2032.
About the CR2450 battery
CR2450 is a 24.5 mm × 5 mm, 3 V lithium cell with a typical capacity of about 620 mAh. The same size is sold as DL2450, ECR2450, 5029LC.
